Great news.  EA is very proud to receive the accolade of having a perfect rating based on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workplace policies and benefits according to a new report released by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization.

On hearing of the award, our EVP Human Resources & Facilities, Gabrielle Toledano stated:  “I speak on behalf of everyone at EA when I say we are all absolutely honored to earn the top rating of 100% in the Corporate Equality Index 2009.  This national recognition reflects our genuine commitment to fairness, inclusion and equality, within a framework of meritocracy. EA shares the ideals and applauds the work of the Human Rights Campaign and we will continue to promote and support initiatives for our gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees.  EA holds diversity as a core value.  We will continue to work at EA to further enrich our employee population with people with diverse backgrounds and unique perspectives.  The diversity of our workforce is what enables us to deliver innovative and industry leading interactive entertainment.”

The Corporate Equality Index 2010 report is available at www.hrc.org/cei.

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is the educational arm of America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.

Great InsideEA blog post just arrived from our great friend Julie Wynn, the Manager, EA Outreach & Corporate Giving, US.  Thanks for sharing Julie.

    EA hosts Heart Walk 2009

EA was proud to host the American Heart Association’s Charity walk to raise awareness and needed funds to find a cure for heart diseases for the sixth consecutive year at their Redwood City headquarters on September 16th, 2009.

EA began hosting the AHA’s annual Bay Area walk to honor an employee lost to a heart attack. Spearheaded by CEO John Riccitiello, 120 EA employees were joined by over 1500 local community leaders and concerned citizens on EA’s Great Lawn to walk and raise over $100,000 for the fight against heart disease.

EA Sports Active was there to show how easy it is to be active;  EA’s Fitness staff was there to lead a pre-walk warm-up, local bands were there to entertainer the crowd and the EA store was opened up to the community to purchase games.

It was a great day to show camaraderie and concern for those we live and work with and a great day to get active for a cause!

Take a look at some of the Photos from the day which give a great insight.  Thank you again to all who gave their time to help.

This is very cool.  Behind our great development teams are great families.  Our goal is for everyone to feel included at EA.  Hence, why it is awesome to see Bioware  Austin & Edmonton’s ‘Take our Kids to Work Day’.

BioWare Austin – 2009 Take Our Kids to Work Day

Over 30 kids and their parents participated in a special Take Our Kids to Work Day on August 21stat the BioWare studio in Austin, TX.   The kids enjoyed a studio tour, demonstrations from various departments, a pizza lunch with face painting and games, and of course, one-on-one time with their parents.   Not surprisingly, we have many little Star Wars fans in our BioWare family!  Everyone had a great time and we look forward to next year’s event.

BioWare Edmonton-Take Your Kids to Work Day

65 children and their parents participated in BioWare Edmonton’s first Take Your Kids to Work Day which was a tremendous success. The children were treated to a day full of activities including:

A studio tour, with an opportunity to learn how games are made, and ask questions of representatives from many of the disciplines at BioWare including Art, Design, HR and QA

    • 1:1 time with their parents at their desks, so they could see what their parents do everyday
    • A pizza lunch including games, activities and a balloon artist

Everyone involved appreciated being able to show their children/brothers/sisters where they worked and what their day consisted of. It was a great opportunity to share our passion for games and game development with the next generation of gamers/developers/consumers! We look forward to repeating the event next year!

Another great insight into EA from Marijka Strudwick in the UK.  Over to you Marijka.

    ————————————————-

    EA in the Park 2009

It’s been a tough year for everyone especially with a global recession.  Making great games requires a lot of hard work.  EA UK wanted to say a thank you to it’s employees and a bigger thank you to all the families behind our great employees and celebrating developing some great games released this past year.

So last weekend, UK staff joined together, with their families to have some fun together.  8 hours of exhilarating rides, a delicious barbeque & the rare appearance of some UK sunshine were all in store for UK employees & their families attending this year’s summer barbeque. The event was held at Thorpe Park, one of Europe’s finest theme parks, with exclusive use of their Lake View terrace for food, drinks & chilling out.

A grand day was had by all & it was the ideal way to thank employees, & of course their ever supportive families, for all their hard work this year. Thanks in particular to the Guildford Reception team and EMC3 for organising such a fabulous event.

Take a look at some pictures from the day.

    comeandplay

Thank you to my good friend Marijka Strudwick in EA’s UK Office for sharing this montage from EA’s ’Come and Play Day’.

The Guildford office stages a ‘Come & Play Day’ every three months to give  employees the opportunity to try out games being made by other EA offices prior to their release. With over 25 different departments based in the UK headquarters alone, it’s also a great way for employees to get to know the other teams they are working alongside.

There was a number of titles available to play at last Friday’s event including, Brutal Legend, Family Game Night, FIFA Soccer 10, Need for Speed SHIFT & The Saboteur, however the big hit of the day was The Beatles: Rockband.  Special thanks to the Beatles Product Manager, Mickael Bougis for hosting a 3 hour, non-stop Beatles-fest!

    Cool place to work…..and play.

    Thanks Marijka for sharing.
